Contemporary Documentaries
Cave of Forgotten Dreams
Directed by Werner Herzog (France-2011). This film is a breathtaking documentary which follows an exclusive expedition into the nearly inaccessible Chauvet Cave in France, home to the most ancient visual art known to have been created by man. This film is a cinematic experience that provides a unique glimpse of pristine artwork dating back to human hands over 30,000 years ago-almost twice as old as any previous discovery. (90 min.)

BPL offers you the chance to let your imagination run wild and Dream Big! Starting May 29, stop by Boulder Public Library to pick up your FREE reading game board and a book to keep! Once a week for five weeks, stop by the Main Library or the Meadows or Reynolds branches. See great artwork, solve riddles and find your prize. Enjoy the summer by reading books that you choose, and don’t forget that library staff is here to help you find great things to read.

Howls Moving Castle

Opening of Teen Film Nexus! Howl’s Moving Castle, Directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Showing in the Canyon Theater. There will also be s'mores and pizza in the Japanese Garden.

Teen Summer/OWN THE NIGHT-events weekly for Middle and High school aged teens, through July.
Teen Film Nexus: The Boulder Teen Advisory Board presents their film series of popular and cult classic films chosen by teens. This series runs through the end of the year.

Back Stage at the Circus

Based in Santa Fe, Wise Fool has operated for more than ten years on the belief that circus and puppetry are inherently revolutionary art forms that empower individuals and enrich lives. Circus and puppetry mix visual and performing arts through colorful costumes and settings, graceful skills, and storytelling. This unique combination draws in audience members of all ages and walks of life. Add a social message to these performances, and you have a perfect recipe to spark both wonder and dialogue in audience members.

 

Circus Workshop
When: May 31, 2012 - 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Geared for elementary kids and their families, this fun-filled show gives audience members a glance behind the scenes at the big top. Tightrope walking, clowning, trapeze, puppets, and of course a bit of magic will delight and tickle the audience, not to mention giving a few folks a chance to try it out!
